Ideation ...

Tata Steel Ideation Challenge- By The Phoenix .....

"If people are not laughing at your dreams ....your dreams are not too big" .

When in 1905 Jamshedji Tata dreamt of India  having it own steel producing plant little did he realize that 100 years from then the company would rise up to being one of the most respected companies across the globe. The company today needs no definition.

This post comes up as a solution to a challenge posed to us by the Tata Steel Company asking us to provide an innovative infact a "killer" idea that could be the next big thing in the field of steel making. We have proposed a solution that could enhance the visibilty of the existing supply chain management in the company. No solution comes without problems and there are few issues that we think are worth challenging. So just go through the below presentation to know what we have in store for you.

JIM JAM- Online ticket support system

Introducing the Business Solution of Ticket Tracking...

What is this application and what business problem this will be solving?

The companies many a times have their employees going outstation for the various jobs and assignments. This leads to a huge chunk of ticketing data available for the employees to be booked, billed, and tracked. After the ticket has been booked the travelers or the passenger wants to know the present condition of the ticket or even take a print out of the bill. In these cases the company employs a “travel desk” to co-ordinate the entire activities. The problems generally encountered are
Employees frequently have to call up travel desk for tracking their ticket
Rely upon mails from travel desk to find their ticket
In large organizations this becomes cumbersome on the part of the travel desk

Benefits of the system:
The one centralized system will grant access to all the travelers to track their ticket on their own without the help of the travel desk.
The customers can generate billing requests for their own ticket
The system sorts the tickets based on the priority of the tickets from “High” to “Normal”

Features:-
multi-user web interface
Easily manageable
organize and archive all support requests of a company
simple
lightweight
reliable and fast

A chat with buddy techno Kumar...

               Me: hi buddy…Whats up??
Techno Kumar: nothing …just as usual…u say
Me : so how is your new venture going ?? Everything okay?
Techno kumar : fine ..I am planning to install the ERP system in my company..but since I   have very little knowledge about it ..i had to outsource the entire implementation of it..
Me: ahhh ..that`s great ..ERP will go a long way in ensuring flexibility to your company operations..
Techno kumar: yeah I know …. but the thing is if only I had some knowledge about what it is ..then I would not have a problem…you know ..like for clarity and satisfaction..
Me : okay ..i understand ..i think you MUST  have an idea about the basics of systems architecture ..that can throw some light on what work you are doing ..
Techno kumar: is it ?? …but how ..
Me : arre main hoon na….i can impart some knowledge on this systems architecture..but are you free now ??..because it may take some time..
Techno kumar: ..ohh ..not an issue ..i would learn it now itself..
Me : okay ..so at the beginning u must understand that all the computer programs that are used are comprised of Data Structures and algorithms ..
              Techno kumar : hmmm..like?
Me : data structures actually show what is to be processed ..and algorithms tell how it is to be processed..
Techno kumar : information systems refer to these as  data bases and applications ..respectively .. right ??
Me : exactly ….now ..the basic thing I that data must be logically distinct from applications ..
and there are many types of system architecture single, two tier, three tier and finally multi-tier.
Techno kumar : ohh..but I am getting confused what do you mean by tier ??
Me : yeaah yeaaah ..coming ..coming ..have patience techno ..single tier is the basic laptop/ desktop or server model….do you know what is mean by a server ?
Techno kumar: yes yes I have heard about it a lot of time..But don’t really have clarity ..
Me : server is a computer / host to perform certain dedicated tasks or activities ..like data base server , business application server, sales server / finance server for companies ..etc ..
 Techno kumar : gotcha ..
Me : So in the two tier companies we have the one data server –and the application server is placed in the involved network computers ..the benefits are high Graphical user interface as the server is not burdened with processing activities ..understood ??
Techno kumar : yahh getting it ..
Me : But the thing is that wide bandwidth is required ..and maintenance is also required ..but in case of of three tier networks there is a business application server that takes of the application load off the network computers and improves the system by minimizing the data transfer over the networks ..
Techno kumar : so we have to only put some sort of a user interface in the computers ..to facilitate the process..
Me : exactly ..my super intelligent techno …no doubt u are a good entrepreneur ….but further the system can also be optimized by putting a separate web server along with the business application one that would only require a web browser to be installed in the network computers…
Techno kumar: ..hmm ..is it just like we have in the internet or other wide area networks..??
Me: yeaah …only that in the internet there are many number of such systems linked …and simply speaking in case of business applications the ERP is the system where the entire company data base is put in one server ..there is a business application server ..here the ERP ..the network companies only have the specific software in their systems to access through a connected WAN…
Techno kumar: hmmmm..understood …thanks Aniket ..it was really a great knowledge sharing session ..u deserve a treat..
Me : of course ..ek treat toh banta hi hain…so tomorrow we meet up at Arsalan ..seven pm..and dig ourselves in the biriyani ..
Techno kumar: bye ..see ya.

poems ..2

                                                  Quiet evenings...

The westerly winds breeze past my ears
The unkempt curtains dangling for the last one year,
The wings of the fan still rotate above me
Saying as if “why do you keep looking at me?”
Last year’s calendar sways left and right
Trying its level best just to avoid my sight,
The setting sun hides itself among the chimneys
Pouring the smell of darkness slowly on my poetry…

Life has changed, so has the colour of my wall
Countless times have I lifted myself every time I fall
The smoke and dust keep settling on my belongings
Pensively I ask myself, what that is forthcoming,
Hopes and dreams lay beside the daily newspaper
The hue of great expectations seems to become lesser & lesser...
Failure has become my honest friend
My identity mixes with tranquility to form a unique blend,
So often I ask my luck “what has happened to thee?”
……. only after its finished will you come to see!!

The morning sun shines to highlight a new opportunity
But foolishly I drown myself in the deep waters of anxiety,
Every step that I take is another mistake for her,
My state my past becomes impossible for her to decipher.
Moments and only moments are the things I treasure
This puzzling life mocks at me what I seek to measure,
….nothing is there that will always wish to bind
I will be out of sight, but never out of your mind….

poems..

                                                               All I wanted to say…

The intercom rings pensively, I don’t know what it says
the exchange mails unattended for last fifteen days,
The channel files lie dangling on top of one another
Quite resembling my life few days further…
My mind quietly moves from cubicle to cubicle
Searching for solace in middle of this debacle…
Of all the risks I have taken, not thinking of any gain
Sure I was of this one…of nothing but pain

Hapless, unaware droopy eyelids slide across the door…
A charming smile greets this face so sad and poor
Flush with happiness it seemed like a kind of breeze
Confused, taken aback, it was the second I still want to seize.
Moments like these doesn’t frequent normal lives
On these moments do all the peace and serenity thrives

It seemed for a moment all the grief to submerge
Just like the bright morning sun rays diverge
The routine life swung to a dash of excitement
My empty mind decorated with a sense of fulfillment
For days I searched for ways to erase my sadness
Only to realize...It is “she” and her pursuit of happiness!!

It is this friendship that still rings like music to my ears
Its melody and tune how exactly I can hear
Restless and impatient this mind wants you to find
I will be out of your sight …but never out of your mind …
